This seminar discusses Labor Relations issues in California’s emerging cannabis industry. We will explore the California State and City of Los Angeles cannabis regulations that require licensed operators to enter into labor peace agreements with a union and the issues presented by collective bargaining and operating a unionized workforce in this nascent industry.
Eric W. Mueller practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment on behalf of management. As an attorney at Ballard Rosenberg Golper & Savitt LLP, he regularly provides counsel to employers concerning all areas of employment and labor law, including human resources decisions, union organizing, employee communications, employment and labor policies, employee investigations, discrimination and retaliation charges, and compliance with state and federal employment and labor laws. He has experience helping navigate clients through all forms of difficult negotiations and labor environments, including the use of boycotts, corporate campaigns, media and political pressure, strikes, lockouts, and other economic weapons.
Prior to joining the firm, Eric worked with the National Football League – Management Council (Labor & Legal Department), advising NFL teams on labor and employment law matters. Eric represents employers throughout the United States in matters such as: Negotiating collective bargaining agreements; Arbitration of union grievances concerning employee discipline/discharges and contract interpretation disputes; Discrimination and retaliation charges; Defending unfair labor practice charges; Union representation petitions and organizing campaigns; Labor and employment matters in asset and stock purchases/sales; Management training on labor and employment law risk management and dispute avoidance; and Layoffs, restructurings, employee terminations, and other sensitive human resources matters.

HOW INFORMATION GOVERNANCE DRIVES LITIGATION
Jeffrey B. Lewis, Esq.
This seminar will explore the cornerstones of Information Governance and how they form an architectural foundation to support litigation. We will discuss best practices that can aid in litigation discovery and methods to comply with new privacy laws and regulations. We will also evaluate ways to leverage an organization’s records and record custodians during litigation.
Jeffrey B. Lewis was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois and attended California Western School of Law in San Diego. He is a licensed attorney in the state of California. Lewis has over 20 years of experience working in the records and information management field. His work experience includes law firms such as Fenwick & West, Hanson Bridgett and Sheppard Mullin. Lewis is currently the Records Compliance Manager for Farmers Insurance in Woodland Hills, California. In this role, he navigates cross-functional collaboration within the Office of the General Counsel, including Corporate Litigation, Claims Legal Services, and Claims Litigation.
Lewis is an active member of ARMA International, a professional association focused on informational governance, including records and information management and related industry practitioners and vendors. He currently serves as the President of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter for ARMA. Lewis is also an active member of ISACA, a global association for development of information security knowledge and earned his Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification in 2015. Most recently, Lewis and the Information Governance team at Farmers Insurance was honored with the highest award for Records Management and Information Governance, “Excellence for an Organization,” by ARMA International.
LAPA is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar is approved for 1.0 hours of credit.
