Stay updated on the latest developments regarding the State Bar of California’s potential paraprofessional licensure, which is part of its broader efforts to improve access to justice. The California Paraprofessional Working Group, established by the State Bar Board of Trustees, was tasked with creating recommendations for a paraprofessional licensure or certification program aimed at increasing access to legal services across the state. On May 20, 2022, the Board approved the final amended recommendations from the working group. However, Assembly Bill 2958, signed into law on September 18, 2022, instructed the State Bar to pause any further work on advancing these recommendations until 2025.
