    This presentation will delve into the legal implications and complications of artificial intelligence, discussing intellectual property complications, treatment of data and privacy issues, contract complications, sources of liability, and novel types of disputes. Specifically, as the real-world begins to make greater use of this technology, we explore what are the ramifications in responsibility, liability, and more that we should be thinking about, both as producers and users of these new technologies.


    Morvareed Z. Salehpour is Managing Attorney of Salehpour Legal, a law firm specializing in proactive, high-touch legal counsel and strategy for startups and established businesses, assisting in negotiating and best structuring their contracts and tech transactions and counseling them on issues involved with product and product feature launches, intellectual property licensing and protection, open-source issues, data and privacy rights, and use of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. She has represented clients across the nation ranging from entrepreneurs and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies and works in a variety of industries, including all sorts of technology such as SaaS, software, digital health, AI, and biotech among others. Ms. Salehpour is a graduate of UCLA and UCLA School of Law. Morvareed is also Past-President of the Santa Monica Bar Association, Board Member and Career Chair for the UCLA Alumni Westside Bruins Network, and a regular speaker and writer on tech and business law issues. Salehpour Legal has also been recognized as a Top 100 Bruin Business by UCLA for 2024.

    Douglas Lusk, J.D. Doug is the founder and CEO of National Society for Legal Technology (NSLT). Doug has authored multiple textbooks and is a nationally recognized expert in the field of legal technology education. The NSLT is used as classroom curriculum in over 320 universities and colleges in the U.S. and Canada and have individual members in 11 countries around the world. After receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Laverne College of Law, Doug accepted his first Adjunct Professor position at Fullerton College. Never one to turn down a great opportunity, Doug also accepted Adjunct positions at Mt. San Antonio College, Daemen University, Salt Lake Community College, and Pasadena City College. Doug also serves on the Technology Advisory Group for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). CIO Views magazine honored Doug on the cover of their October 2022 edition and listed him in their “Top 10 Most Inspiring People In Legal Services, 2022.” Doug was presented the “Outstanding Leadership Award” at the 2022 Law2.0 conference in recognition for his contributions to the field of law.
