Chief of Staff for L.A. City Councilmember David Ryu

Nick Greif is Chief of Staff to Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu where he has led on building homeless housing (including the LGBT Center in Hollywood), improving education (Child Savings Accounts for all LAUSD students), and expunging prior misdemeanor convictions for street vendors to prevent deportations. As Chief of Staff, Nick manages the long term direction and day to day work of the office and the more than twenty staff members who work for the Councilmember.

Before becoming Chief of Staff, Nick was Councilmember Ryu’s Director of Policy and Legislation where he led the Councilman’s policy and planning teams focused on the pressing topics of homelessness, education, traffic, housing and public infrastructure.

Previously, he was an economic adviser to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, leading the policy campaigns to raise the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour and to reform the City’s business tax.

Nick holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Born in Los Angeles, Nick likes to jog, travels when he can find the time, and enjoys a good board game. He lives in the Beverly/Fairfax neighborhood with his wife, Cat.
