JOIN LAPA IN LEARNING ABOUT THE LAW AND HOW IT RELATES TO DISASTER RELIEF (1 hour of CLE)

Presenters Julie Rattray, Esq. and Naomi Gemmell, Esq. of Neighborhood Legal Services will provide an informative CLE discussing several disaster related legal benefits/issues. 

The CLE will cover federal benefits after a disaster, the sequence of delivery, common disaster benefit legal issues, and the role of legal assistance.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Julie Rattray attended University of Washington School of Law. She began her legal services career at Snohomish County Legal Services, where she represented tenants and domestic violence survivors, and coordinated an eviction defense clinic and a bankruptcy clinic.  Julie worked in the Bay Area from 2006-2007, first on homeless policy issues, and then as a Registered Legal Services Attorney for Bay Area Legal Aid representing domestic violence survivors.  In 2007, she returned to Washington, where she worked as a staff attorney and pro bono coordinator for the Coordinated Legal Education, Advice and Referral line for 9 years.   In 2018 she joined Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County as the Disaster Legal Services Pro Bono Coordinator.  She is barred in Washington and California.

Naomi Gemmell is a Disaster Legal Services Attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles. A graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law, Naomi completed a fellowship with an anti-human trafficking organization in India after law school. Prior to joining NLSLA, Naomi worked in civil litigation. Naomi is licensed to practice in the State of California.
